The early morning light holds the promise of a new day. Where petals used to bloom, we are temporarily transfixed instead by the simple wonder of the technology. This is a constructed landscape, and the construction lines are clearly visible as the harvest is pieced together, still rough and ready but with ornamentation in process. God is in the detail, or is it the Devil is in the detail here?

The prospect of GM agriculture is with us. In 2011 in Australia we are growing GM Carnations, and GM Canola; the prospect of GM food is flowering on the horizon. The seams in the research appear to be closing, and the rhetoric is being tweaked. What looks like science fiction is becoming a reality.
